The idea and the picture is quite beautiful. I understand the impact of it is for a song. Not familiar with this band, but the lyrics are quite a nice touch. It gives more of a sense with the idea you were going for: Mother Earth has no established direction; she just creates whatever wherever. The design is very nice because of the details of the hair and hair pieces. I can see it as an illustration for a book.
Now...I have a couple of issues: the hair--it looks flat in certain places to me. The side profile of the chin jaw and neck I feel needs to be more defined and shaded in my opinion. I also think the mouth area needs more definition (volume) to it. I think the crown may need a little more texture. Lastly, the flowers in her hair needs to pop a little more as in give them a little more highlighting. I think you should give definition to the collar bone and shade that area. Nothing an arabic gum eraser can't fix for some of those issues. If you can afford a mechanical eraser (about 12 to 14 bucks at Hobby Lobby or Michaels, hopefully, they're in your area) have one in hand because that thing is awesome! Great tool for highlights along side blending stumps. Then, just do some light blending to them.
Other than that, it looks great!
Thank you for giving the critique, I agree with some of the things you've said here...I'm not very good at side faces, but I like a good challenge now and then, and I really enjoyed doing this!
..sadly, I've been trying to find kneaded erasers and mechanical erasers for months now, there aren't many art shops here..
Well, I'm glad you enjoyed drawing this piece. We artists need to keep ourselves up and encourage one another. We may no agree with everything, but we do what we can.
Hm...I don't know how you feel about online shopping, but I found a couple of those kinds of things. Amazon sells EVERYTHING. They even have deoderant on sale on that site! Here's mecahnical erasers. [link] I recommend the Straedtler: cheaper than Sakura and built to last. Don't bother with Derwent. I have one and when I dropped on a hardwood floor, it broke to pieces. As for kneaded erasers, they're pretty good. I really didn't care what product namebrand was good or bad. It did what it did, but whatever. [link] Hope to see great things from you!
